Hello there!
My name is Zac Bides. Freelance Photographer. Aspiring Neurologist.
I was born and raised in Fairfield, CA to a family of Filipino-American Veterans who served decades in the U.S. military to achieve citizenship. Their journeys of resilience, determination and selflessness are foundational to who I am today.
I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. Then, I spent some time in the SF Bay Area working at a brain injury & stroke rehab clinic, serving low-income communities through a free health center in San Francisco’s South of Market District, and slowly developing a love for the creative arts.
I picked up my first camera in 2016, and since then I’ve been able to use my work to build community, share stories, and further social commentary. I take these experiences with me as I now pursue a career as a physician at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.
I’m incredibly interested in how photography, art and human-centered design can intersect with medicine in order to help us better connect with, heal and serve our communities. I am always looking for opportunities to explore these interests and improve my craft. CV available upon request.
